Business Intelligence Analyst

Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL (Hybrid)

Reports to: VP of Marketing (works day-to-day with the BI Strategist)

About Darwill

Darwill is a marketing company specializing in direct and digital performance marketing for enterprise clients operating in local markets. We help brands acquire customers, drive local response, and strengthen customer communications through integrated omnichannel programs. Our capabilities span strategic ideation, workflow and campaign design, data-driven targeting, execution, and analytics. Darwill delivers scalable execution with measurable results—helping clients improve performance against the KPIs that matter.

Role

Summary

We’re hiring a hands-on BI reporting analyst to keep our reporting engine running—accurate, on time, and continuously improving. This is a supporting BI role that partners closely with our Senior BI Strategist to execute and scale the BI vision. You will focus on delivery and operational excellence: maintaining and enhancing Tableau dashboards built on data in Databricks, with strong QA practices to ensure client-facing outputs are correct and consistent.

You will produce client-facing deliverables (dashboards, exports, reporting views) and interface with internal stakeholders, but you will not be responsible for client presentations.

Examples of Dashboards & Reporting You’ll Support
  • Campaign performance dashboards (channel pacing, conversion trends, creative/offer performance, and budget impact).
  • Matchback and attribution-style reporting that ties marketing activity to outcomes.
  • Location-level rollups and drill-downs for multi-location clients (store/market comparisons).
  • Customer vs. prospect profiling and audience segmentation views.
Key Responsibilities

Reporting Production

  • Own assigned reporting deliverables end-to-end: refresh validation, dashboard updates, enhancements, and delivery-ready outputs.
  • Build and maintain Tableau dashboards: parameters, filters, calculated fields, layout standards, and usability.
  • Support reporting for multi-location clients (location-level detail and roll-ups).

Data QA and Reliability

  • Perform QA before outputs are used internally or client-facing: reconciliation checks, trend validation, anomaly detection, and definition consistency.
  • Escalate issues with clarity: what changed, impact, suspected cause, and recommended next step.
Enhancements and Upgrades
  • Implement dashboard enhancements: new views, improved filtering, and data storytelling.
  • Add/refine KPI calculations and definitions under BI team direction.
  • Improve performance by reducing dashboard load time and optimizing calculations/queries.
Documentation and Repeatability
  • Maintain KPI definitions and reporting documentation (glossary, refresh cadence, dashboard intent, known limitations).
  • Create and execute on repeatable checklists and SOPs for production and QA to ensure consistency at scale.
What Success Looks Like

First 30–60 days

  • Familiarize yourself with our data stack, core datasets in Databricks, and the business context behind our most-used dashboards
  • Demonstrate strong QA habits and catch issues early by 90 days
  • Own a stable portfolio of recurring client-facing outputs with minimal rework
  • Ship measurable dashboard improvements (clarity, usability, or speed) by 6 months
  • Increase reporting throughput via templating, documentation, and workflow improvements
  • Become a trusted execution owner who can deliver impactful new reports from intake → build → QA → release, in partnership with the Senior BI Strategist
Qualifications (required)
  • 1–3 years experience in BI, analytics, reporting, marketing analytics, or a data-adjacent role.
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards in a modern BI tool (Tableau strongly preferred).
  • SQL (basic–intermediate): joins, aggregations, and writing queries to validate/report on datasets (you don’t need to be a data engineer).
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivots, lookups, conditional logic).
  • High attention to detail and accountability—client-facing reporting requires accuracy.
  • Clear communication and comfort working through priorities, tickets, and deadlines.
Qualifications (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Databricks (or similar cloud data platforms).
  • Exposure to marketing data sources (CRMs, GA4, paid media platforms, call tracking, etc.).
  • Experience working with data pipelines/connectors/APIs or troubleshooting data freshness issues.
  • Comfort working in a task/ticket workflow (, Jira, Asana, etc.).
Hybrid Work Expectations

This role requires 2–3 days/week in the Oakbrook Terrace office (specific days determined by team needs). Must be able to reliably commute to western Chicago suburbs.
