Job Summary We are looking for a Lead Decision Science Analyst to translate data into strategic insights that directly influence product, marketing, and business decisions. This role focuses on deep exploratory and diagnostic analytics to answer complex business questions, partnering closely with cross-functional leaders across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Finance to uncover growth opportunities and provide recommendations that drive measurable business outcomes.
Success requires strong business acumen and exceptional communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Building Business Relationships:
Partner with business leaders to understand their strategy, key initiatives, and KPIs, taking shared ownership of reaching their goals. - Exploratory & Diagnostic Analysis:
Conduct deep exploratory and diagnostic analyses to understand drivers of behavior and identify levers for growth. - KPI Development:
Develop, measure, and monitor product or customer KPIs in collaboration with product managers and finance partners. - Trend & Segmentation Analysis:
Identify leading indicators, behavioral trends, and segmentation opportunities to guide strategy. - Stakeholder Communication:
Translate technical results into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders through verbal/written insights, visualizations, and data-driven recommendations, including communicating assumptions, tradeoffs, and limitations to non-technical audiences. - Data Analysis:
Use SQL and Python to extract, manipulate, integrate, and analyze large datasets, and develop deep understanding of relevant data across platforms. - Framework Development:
Translate complex business requirements into analytical frameworks, and ensure data accuracy and integrity across all analytics and reporting. - Mentorship:
Provide guidance to associate and senior analysts on analytics best practices and analytical rigor. - Collaboration and Confidentiality:
Contribute to team efforts, protect company confidentiality, and comply with health and safety guidelines.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Engineering, or a related field with significant analytical coursework. - Experience:
5+ years in an analytics role, preferably in product, marketing, or growth analytics; 2+ years building dashboards/reports in Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools. - Skills:
Exceptional SQL skills with a strong track record on complex datasets; ability to deal with ambiguity and make quality decisions in a fast-paced environment; strong understanding of business processes and strategic planning; ability to lead projects independently and cross-functionally, with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Education:
MBA or Master's degree in a related field. - Experience:
Azure (or other cloud) and Databricks; data warehouse/data modeling concepts; calculated metrics and data modeling within Power BI;
IoT, SaaS, or intelligent consumer products/services; customer-facing digital experiences (mobile or similar platforms);
Salesforce, SAP, or CDP platforms (e.g., Tealium); project management tools (e.g., Jira); building web-based data visualizations; creating temporary semantic data layers supporting self-service analytics within Azure Cloud architecture. - Knowledge:
Strong understanding of financial concepts and analytics; experience working within a software/technology organization.
