AboutThe Role .
This role is responsible for leading the Canada-based Transportation Operations team, ensuring the effective execution of daily logistics activities while driving continuous improvement across the transportation network. The position balances operational execution with strategic oversight, including carrier performance, freight spend, service levels, and long-term rail strategy for North America. The successful candidate will partner cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to deliver on service and cost objectives while fostering strong carrier relationships and operational excellence.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing.
- Lead and coach a team of transportation professionals, managing escalations and ensuring effective resolution of carrier-related challenges
- Hold carriers accountable for service performance, including on-time delivery, tender acceptance, routing guide compliance, and shipment visibility
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners, including leading Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)
- Oversee daily transportation operations through effective use of TMS systems for planning, execution, and cost management
- Ensure adherence to routing guides, contracted rates, and capacity agreements established by Logistics Procurement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including savings identification, process optimization, and system enhancements
- Monitor and manage freight spend against budget while maintaining KPI and service level targets
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Deployment, Finance, and Procurement teams to ensure alignment on priorities and execution
- Lead operational meetings and support customer "hyper care" initiatives as required
- Provide input into network optimization, distribution modeling, annual budgeting, and RFP processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in logistics or transportation operations
- Prior experience leading or supervising a team
- Strong understanding of transportation modes, carrier management, and end-to-end supply chain processes
- Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and process optimization
Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand and manage freight spend - Proficiency in TMS systems; familiarity with tools such as SAP, WMS, or 4
Kites is an asset - Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in frozen food logistics or distribution is considered an asset
You will lead a team of 7 transportation professionals based in Canada, supporting operations across the North American logistics network. The team partners closely with Customer Service, Supply Chain Planning, Deployment, Finance, and external carriers and 3PL partners. This role plays a critical leadership position in ensuring operational execution, driving performance, and developing team capabilities while supporting broader logistics strategy.
