Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM (1st Shift)
We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Team Lead to oversee daily warehouse operations and ensure the timely, accurate movement of materials throughout the facility. This leadership role is responsible for coordinating shipping, receiving, inventory control, material handling, and warehouse staff while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
The Warehouse Team Lead will work closely with Operations, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support production goals, optimize warehouse processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong inventory management experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, and material distribution.
- Oversee shipping and receiving activities to ensure accurate and efficient material handling.
- Coordinate inventory and materials stored at off-site warehouses to support production requirements.
- Enforce all safety procedures, GMPs, and warehouse policies while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Train team members on warehouse procedures, forklift operation, loading/unloading practices, and workplace safety standards.
- Hold employees accountable for performance, attendance, behavior, and safety compliance through coaching and corrective action when necessary.
- Ensure proper inventory rotation using First Expired, First Out (FEFO) practices.
- Manage cycle count activities, inventory accuracy programs, warehouse reconciliations, and inventory health checks.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Support production and packaging schedules to ensure uninterrupted workflow and customer order fulfillment.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance warehouse efficiency, productivity, and inventory processes.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through labor optimization, damage prevention, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.
- Monitor warehouse equipment, submit maintenance requests, and recommend improvements to ensure safe operations.
- Create employee schedules to maintain adequate staffing and operational coverage.
- Manage material handling processes, including receiving, storage, material transfers, production support, returns, FIFO, FEFO, tempering/thawing, SAP transactions, RF systems, and production scheduling.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop warehouse team members to achieve performance goals.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth daily operations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and communicate key performance metrics related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and waste reduction.
- Ensure effective shift handoff communication and proper reporting of operational issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, receiving, shipping, and material handling required.
- 3–5 years of leadership or people management experience required.
- Experience in a food manufacturing or food processing environment is preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems required; SAP experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in a union environment is a plus.
- Flexibility to support additional shifts as needed to meet business objectives.
