Part-Time Special Education Para educator 10-month position
Location:
Montville High School
Reports to:
Principal, Special Education Supervisor

Position follows the School Calendar, 15 hours per week
Daily
Schedule:
7:30 A.M.
- 10:30 A.M. M-F
$19.91/hour (Less .25 during the probationary period)
While para educators may be hired by the district without meeting highly qualified status, they
are required to meet highly qualified status within their 90-day probationary period. Highly
qualified status is a federal requirement for all para educators who provide instructional support
and can be demonstrated by possession of a high school diploma and a transcript showing an
associate's degree or higher or two years of study (60 credit hours) at an institution of higher
education or a score of 457 or higher on the Para Pro Exam. Paraeducators who do not meet this
requirement may request one extension of their probationary status if they can provide
documentation of the steps they have taken to meet the requirement.
