Position: PLS Sample Management Technician I

Position Overview

Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

Location:

Oakdale, MN. The PLS Sample Management Technician I is a full‑time, onsite position.

Summary

The PLS Sample Management Technician I at Pace Life Sciences, Inc. is responsible for shipping and receiving, processing, and administration of samples. This role requires knowledge of intermediate to complex laboratory and administrative policies and practices, and the ability to complete forms, documents, and database entries accurately.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides a variety of services using warehouse and lab support knowledge covering multiple areas of sample administration, including receiving, scanning, storage, preparation, shipping, and disposal of complex samples.
  • Reviews, completes, and processes various standard logs, documents, databases, and related materials.
  • Picks up, transports, and delivers samples, documents, and other items as needed.
  • Cleans, maintains, and stocks supplies, tools, paperwork, and related items; disposes of materials and samples following established guidelines.
  • Determines short‑holds and rush samples and prioritizes them based on project requirements.
  • Provides intermediate to complex support in the application and assistance to staff and management regarding sample, equipment, and shipping/receiving administration policies and programs.
  • Researches issues and develops recommendations to resolve project and customer concerns.
  • Assists in reviewing and implementing sampling, equipment, and shipping/receiving administration policies and practices to meet organizational and operational needs.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, escalating when required.
  • Contributes to departmental efficiency and effectiveness by offering suggestions and actively participating in team efforts.
  • Promotes and supports Pace’s mission by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior toward customers and staff; fosters a harmonious and effective workplace.
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus three (3) years of sample, material, or lab administration experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to learn standard applicable organizational policies and procedures on sample, equipment, and shipping/receiving administration.
  • Ability to learn computer applications and systems related to the work.
Physical/Mental Requirements

Mobility to work in a lab and office setting, use standard office and lab equipment, and stamina to sit for extended periods. May require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. Requires vision to read printed materials and computer screens, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or by telephone.

Working Environment

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to chemicals, fumes, gases, and noxious odors associated with laboratory and sample handling.
