Design Engineer - Municipal

Bolton & Menk has an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer, EIT, to join our Municipal team in our Oakdale office. With over 75 years of experience, Bolton & Menk specializes in providing community infrastructure solutions across the Midwest, Southeast, and beyond.

As an entry‑level civil engineering role, we are looking for an EIT to assist project managers and engineers in design and construction phase activities on municipal projects. This position is open to graduates of December 2025 or May 2026, or an experienced EIT with 1‑3 years of experience.

• Assist project engineers with design and construction phase activities on municipal projects.
• Perform basic design computations, preliminary layout and design, research, and prepare rough drafts of preliminary reports and feasibility studies.
• Assist with project plans and specifications, preparing cost and quantity take‑off estimates.
• Conduct construction observation activities, including staking, documentation, measuring and testing, general oversight, and interaction with contractors, subcontractors, residents and city staff.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
• Certified Engineer‑in‑Training or able to obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
• Prior experience in infrastructure design and/or construction observation.
• Working knowledge and skills in CAD and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, Micro Station).
• Requires frequent travel during construction season.
• Valid driver’s license.

Salary Range: $58,000 – $90,000 depending on experience and credentials.
