The Electrical Designer is responsible for designing and drafting electrical systems across diverse construction projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and client specifications. This position plays a critical role in collaborating with internal teams and clients to create safe, efficient, and cost-effective electrical designs. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of electrical design principles, technical software proficiency, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Design electrical systems for commercial, industrial, healthcare, retail, and mixed-use projects
- Develop and revise detailed electrical drawings using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and related design tools
- Deliver accurate, code-compliant designs on time and within budget
- Perform electrical calculations, including load, voltage drop, short circuit, and lighting photometric analysis
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, engineers, and other designers to ensure project alignment
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to make decisions impacting system design, safety, and project outcomes
- Participate in client meetings to clarify project requirements, present design concepts, and provide status updates
- Ensure compliance with NEC and local codes, including reviewing submittals and researching regulatory requirements
- Exercise independent judgment in developing design solutions, interpreting codes, and resolving complex electrical design issues
- Communicate project timelines, risks, and budget impacts to internal stakeholders and clients
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- High attention to detail with commitment to accuracy and quality
- Proficient in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office
- Strong understanding of electrical wiring, schematics, and system design methodologies
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments
- Experience interpreting electrical schematics and system design documentation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Regular, predictable attendance is required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical design, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience, including power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems
- Strong knowledge of NEC and applicable local building codes
- Primarily office-based with occasional site visits
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
- May occasionally lift up to 25 lbs., and perform bending, stooping, or kneeling
