Hydraulics Design Engineer

As a Hydraulics Design Engineer, you will design bridge waterways, culverts, deck drain systems, retention/detention basins and channels for trunk highways. This position provides technical expertise and assistance to MnDOT District Offices, municipalities and county engineers as requested; conducts bridge scour evaluation on new and existing bridges and design countermeasures. In addition, the position updates drainage standards and supports hydraulic automation and asset management and will be involved in hydraulic climate resiliency efforts at MnDOT.

Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR before starting employment.)

• Experience in hydraulics and hydrology, including 2D modeling of streams and rivers.
• Experience analyzing and preparing engineering data.
• Experience providing technical guidance and support to others.
