Basic Function:

Responsible for managing a designated loan portfolio typically consisting of large, complex commercial and mortgage loans, including loans participated/syndicated with other Farm Credit Associations or Commercial Banks. Successful candidates are required to have prior experience and expertise in at least one of the following industries:
Permanent Plantings, Winery, Vineyard, or Row Crops.

Analyzes new loan applications and other loan servicing requests through thorough analysis of financial statements and other pertinent credit information, and develops credit packages. The Senior Portfolio Analyst assists the Relationship Manager in gathering the required information necessary to make appropriate credit decisions, and analyzes credit and servicing requests from start to finish. Serves as a secondary point of contact for the customer, making recommendations on loan and servicing requests based on the Association’s Loan Underwriting Standards.

Responsible for approval/denial of credit actions through either the utilization of assigned delegated authority or recommendation to a higher level of delegated authority.

Essential Duties:
  • Assist the Relationship Manager in gathering information necessary to make appropriate credit decisions, including meetings with the customer and questioning regarding the financial information submitted and all aspects of their operation.
  • Call the customer directly for follow‑up questions on the application package submitted and lead additional conversations as needed.
  • Develop credit packages and loan servicing actions.
  • Handle larger and more complex credits in the portfolio.
  • Review and analyze credit information presented; determine the need for more thorough investigation or additional information.
  • Request appraisal/field reports, obtain third‑party verifications, obtain credit reports, and request lien searches as necessary.
  • Complete loan analysis, including financial statements, cash flows, loan analysis forms, trend sheets, writing narratives, and offering opinions concerning credit worthiness, risks and mitigants, and other forms as required.
  • Formulate projections using historical financial data, current budgets and other information.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of sound credit administration practices, with the ability to differentially analyze complex requests and accurately identify risks and inconsistencies.
  • Input all required financial information and data into the financial analysis, loan origination and other loan processing systems.
  • Make approval recommendations on loan actions based on the Association’s Loan Underwriting Standards while complying with regulatory requirements; able to independently make approval recommendations on complex credits with limited oversight from organizational management.
  • Participate in loan committee meetings as required; articulate credit decisions.
  • Prepare information for Participation/Syndication partners as needed and participate in lender meetings as required.
  • Demonstrate analytical and statistical skills to evaluate loan requests and make the appropriate independent opinion of credit worthiness aligned with the organization’s credit philosophy and risk appetite.
