Role Description

The Swiss Machinist will set up, operate, and adjust Swiss-style CNC machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include selecting tooling, programming and editing machine parameters, performing in‑process inspections, and maintaining tight tolerances on complex parts. The role involves troubleshooting machining issues, optimizing production runs, performing basic machine maintenance, and collaborating with engineers, toolmakers, and quality personnel to improve processes.

This is a full‑time, on‑site role located in Oakdale, MN, working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment with a focus on safety, quality, and on‑time delivery.

Qualifications
  • Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting Swiss‑style CNC machines, with strong knowledge of turning processes and precision machining.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions, including GD&T and tight tolerance requirements.
  • Proficiency in basic CNC programming and editing (experience with Master Cam, Part Maker, or similar CAM software is a plus).
  • Strong measurement and inspection skills using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments; familiarity with quality standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9001:2015 preferred.
  • Solid understanding of tooling selection, cutting speeds and feeds, materials (metals and alloys), and process optimization for production runs.
  • Attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, and commitment to safety, cleanliness, and preventive maintenance on machines and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers, toolmakers, and production staff in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Relevant technical training or certification in machining, CNC technology, or manufacturing; prior experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing is beneficial.
