Responsibilities
Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center, a subsidiary of UHS, is a 182-bed private hospital that specializes in the treatment of drug addiction, mental health issues and concurrent disorders for adults and adolescents. Education/Training
- Current license to practice in Florida
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Able to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal means
- Ability to effectively supervise and/or direct the implementation of individualized nursing care
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluation of situations and/or making nursing decisions
Experience
- A minimum of two years in a psychiatric behavioral health center environment or health‑care facility treating mentally ill or chemically dependent patients, with understanding of co‑occurring disorders and cultural‑linguistic diversity among patients
- Must have supervisory experience
Licensure/Certification
Current Florida State Registered Nurse License
Current Florida driver’s license
Current CPR certification
Must pass a medication administration exam and complete a basic developmental competency exam
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients
- Knowledge of milieu management
- Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties; ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side‑effects
- Ability to safely implement special treatment procedures
- Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families
- Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
- Sensitive and aware of diverse cultures and their practices
