Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center, a subsidiary of UHS, is a 182-bed private hospital that specializes in the treatment of drug addiction, mental health issues and concurrent disorders for adults and adolescents. Education/Training

• Current license to practice in Florida
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Able to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal means
• Ability to effectively supervise and/or direct the implementation of individualized nursing care
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluation of situations and/or making nursing decisions

Experience

• A minimum of two years in a psychiatric behavioral health center environment or health‑care facility treating mentally ill or chemically dependent patients, with understanding of co‑occurring disorders and cultural‑linguistic diversity among patients
• Must have supervisory experience

Licensure/Certification

Current Florida State Registered Nurse License

Current Florida driver’s license

Current CPR certification

Must pass a medication administration exam and complete a basic developmental competency exam

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients
• Knowledge of milieu management
• Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties; ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side‑effects
• Ability to safely implement special treatment procedures
• Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families
• Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
• Sensitive and aware of diverse cultures and their practices
