Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for core accounting functions, including detailed account analysis, audit support, and the application of key accounting standards within a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. This role partners closely with the Controller and finance team to strengthen accounting processes and ensure accurate, efficient, and reliable financial reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform detailed account reconciliations and analysis, investigating and resolving discrepancies while ensuring timely and accurate entries
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant accounting standards, including revenue recognition and lease accounting guidance
- Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, including preparation of reconciliations and financial analysis
- Assist with annual audit activities, including preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and coordinating with external audit partners
- Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and strengthen internal controls
- Support special projects and cross‑functional initiatives as needed
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- CPA or CPA‑eligible (150 credit hours)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience, including public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 firm
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
- Experience with Colleague or a similar ERP system
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting systems
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience evaluating and testing internal controls over financial reporting within a regulated or industry‑specific environment
- Experience with accounting research using authoritative accounting guidance
- Experience supporting or implementing process automation initiatives within accounting functions
- Experience auditing mission‑driven or regulated organizations, including familiarity with specialized accounting standards and reporting requirements
- Familiarity with government auditing standards and experience supporting audits conducted under regulatory or compliance‑based frameworks
