Accounting Specialist

LHH is partnering with an established organization in Oakland to hire an Accounting Specialist to support a busy and evolving finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role and is looking to expand their experience across AP, AR, and payroll.

This position has evolved from a traditional AP role into a blended accounting role supporting both payables and receivables, with additional exposure to payroll and system improvement initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage day-to-day AP and AR activities, including invoicing, payments, and account reconciliations
  • Support general accounting functions and assist with month-end close processes
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing and assist with payroll-related workflows
  • Help support payroll system challenges and ongoing HRIS improvements
  • Partner with the finance team to maintain workflow in a fast-paced environment
  • Assist with cross-training across accounting functions as needed

What We're Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong background in AP or AR, with exposure to both preferred
  • Willingness to learn payroll and support a complex process environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain experience
  • Professional, adaptable, and team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment
  • Able to work fully onsite in Oakland

Systems & Tools

  • Quick Books experience preferred (current system)
  • Net Suite experience is a plus (future transition planned)
  • Other ERP experience welcome (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Exposure to payroll systems or HRIS platforms (UKG a plus, not required)
