About the Role

We are seeking a hands‑on Assistant Controller to lead our corporate accounting, ERP strategy, and financial reporting. You will be instrumental in our transition to an AI‑first accounting organization, implementing AI‑driven agents to automate journal entries and reconciliations, making our month‑end close faster and more accurate.

Responsibilities
  • Month end close: Lead the month‑end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. This involves overseeing the entire cycle from pre‑close preparation and journal entry management to balance sheet reconciliations and flux analysis.
  • AI Implementation: You will champion our AI‑first approach by integrating AI agents to streamline and automate journal entries, reconciliations, and variance reporting, ensuring that month‑end is not just a deadline, but an efficient, insight‑driven process.
  • Technical Accounting: Manage complex technical accounting areas, including stock‑based compensation (ASC 718), lease accounting (ASC 842), capitalized software costs (ASC 350‑40), and M&A purchase accounting (ASC 805).
  • Consolidation: Lead the monthly financial consolidation process for a complex structure of multiple legal entities, ensuring accurate intercompany eliminations and strict compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Financial Reporting: Drive the velocity and precision of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles. Produce our monthly financials including the cash flow statement. Transform variance analysis into proactive insights that guide executive decision‑making.
  • ERP Strategy: Design and implement an ERP strategy to optimize our financial platforms.
  • Audit: Lead the annual financial statement audit, acting as the primary liaison for external auditors. Oversee the preparation and review of complex financial statement footnotes to ensure full GAAP compliance. Proactively manage the audit lifecycle, including detailed schedules and the coordination of PBC (Prepared by Client) lists, to drive a seamless, timely, and efficient audit process.
  • Internal Controls: Design and deploy robust internal control frameworks that scale with organizational growth, and champion a culture of compliance by authoring and enforcing sophisticated accounting policies.
  • Procurement & Accounts Payable: Oversee end‑to‑end procurement, accounts payable and T&E processes. Implement AI Agents within our procurement tools to improve efficiency and maintain strict financial controls.
  • Treasury & Cash Management: Lead treasury operations, including corporate bank account administration, cash positioning, and debt facility management. Develop AI‑enabled cash forecasting models to optimize liquidity and provide proactive insights on cash flow trends. Maintain strict internal controls over wire and ACH disbursements, ensuring accurate monthly cash flow reporting and covenant compliance.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of five accountants, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and professional development. This is a player‑manager role; you will be expected to actively participate in complex accounting workflows and "roll up your sleeves" alongside the team to deliver results.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
  • 10+ years of accounting and financial management experience, including 5+ years in a supervisory/leadership role.
  • Experience in Big 4 or large regional public accounting firms.
  • Deep expertise in GAAP and technical accounting (especially ASC 718, 842, 350‑40, 805).
  • Proven proficiency in accounting ERP systems (Net Suite or equivalent) and advanced Excel modeling.
  • Demonstrated commitment to modernizing accounting operations; experience (or strong aptitude) for implementing automation tools or AI agents to streamline workflows.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex data clearly, paired with a "player‑manager" approach to mentoring and hands‑on operational support.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and manage competing priorities with precision.
