Senior Tax Professional

Oakland, CA. This is a hybrid position, requiring 3 days/week in the office.

Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of tax engagements, partner with business owners and individual clients, and contribute to a collaborative environment focused on delivering high‑quality client service. The position provides strong visibility across the organization, opportunities for professional growth, and exposure to a diverse range of tax matters.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review tax filings for business and individual clients.
  • Conduct tax research and assist with planning initiatives and client advisory projects.
  • Analyze tax‑related issues and develop practical recommendations.
  • Support client engagements by managing deliverables and maintaining quality standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and assist in developing less experienced professionals.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding tax matters, deadlines, and planning opportunities.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of tax experience in a public accounting or professional services environment.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing a variety of tax returns for businesses and individuals.
  • Strong knowledge of tax compliance and research principles.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client service skills.
  • CPA, EA, or progress toward a professional tax credential preferred.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors, including but not limited to:

  • The individual’s skill sets, experience, and training;
  • Licensure and certifications;
  • Office location and other geographic considerations;
  • Other business and organizational needs.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
