Our client is a growing manufacturing company based in the beautiful waterfront city of Benicia. They are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Accounting Manager to own the full accounting function and lead a small team. This pivotal, hands‑on role carries meaningful ownership for the accuracy, integrity, scalability, and strategic value of the company’s financials. You will lead the monthly close, strengthen systems and processes, and partner closely with leadership to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable financial insights that support business growth.

The ideal candidate brings proven experience in a manufacturing environment, strong expertise in inventory management and cost accounting, deep knowledge of GAAP and ERP systems, and a collaborative leadership style with high ownership and sound judgment.

What you will do:
  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Manage and mentor a team of one while fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate closely with operations and supply chain teams to ensure financial alignment with broader business objectives.
  • Optimize the ERP system and related processes to deliver accurate, timely data tracking, reporting, and period‑end close.
  • Develop and maintain robust cost accounting processes tailored to manufacturing, ensuring precise tracking of material, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Implement and manage inventory accounting practices to maintain accuracy and minimize variances.
  • Identify and drive process improvements that enhance efficiency and generate cost savings.
  • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in full compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate documentation and strong internal controls.
  • Manage the year‑end CPA review and tax preparation processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion and filing.
  • Ensure full tax compliance, including sales tax, property tax, and corporate filings.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, delivering financial insights that support strategic decision‑making.
Who you are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor team members.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, material costs, and labor costing.
  • Proven ability to perform and review detailed flux and variance analysis, proactively identifying and investigating anomalies.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and implementing process, system, and control improvements to support scalability and reduce risk.
  • Strong technical knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, GAAP, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ADP, and financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, exceptional time management, and the ability to analyze financials to detect issues.
  • Proven track record of creating, enhancing, and documenting accounting processes.
Compensation:

$120,000 to $145,000 base salary + bonus. Final compensation will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with the internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
