Class Purpose
Positions assigned to this classification are professional level positions which support and are funded by a categorically funded program/project. Continuation of the position is contingent upon refunding of the program/project. Under general supervision the Senior Clerical Assistant performs a wide variety of typing, clerical, and office work.
Examples of DutiesExamples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Makes appointments for students to see counselors on the current appointment system; complete schedule change requests for counselor schedule modifications.
- Performs a wide variety of difficult clerical work including typing, proofreading, filing, and posting information on records.
- Disseminates registration and class schedule information to students.
- Acts as a receptionist, answering the telephone and assisting students, faculty, or the general public, providing information, referrals, or assistance as required.
- Enters counselor schedule accurately in the current scheduling system.
- Prints unofficial copies of transcripts and class schedules for students upon request and for counselors' appointments.
- Maintains departmental attendance records.
- Prepares basic statistical reports.
- Ensures that there is a sufficient supply of all office forms.
- Request system access for new staff.
- Request repairs for department equipment.
- Provides clerical and organizational support for recruitment and retention activities coordinated by the counseling department.
- Develops and maintains tracking process for students on probation or dismissal.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Ability to speak and write effectively.
- Some experience working in a counseling office setting.
- Experience and ability to learn new scheduling and reporting system
- Native fluency in other languages such as Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, etc.

An applicant with a college degree obtained outside the United States must have education records evaluated by a credentials evaluation service. This evaluation must be submitted by the Final date to receive applications.
