Mailing Coordinator

The Samuel Merritt University (SMU) Facilities Department secures and maintains all University buildings, grounds, and equipment. Our mission is to provide quality services which effectively enhance University facilities for students, faculty, and staff. We are committed to providing the highest levels of support and service to the entire University community.

The Mailing Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing, managing and coordinating all mailing needs for SMU's Oakland campus, ensuring all incoming and outgoing mail is handled accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner. Manages all on-campus mail; including pickup and delivery between all Oakland campus building (HEC, MOB, Peralta Pavilion, and Webster) Sorts, prepares, and processes outgoing US mail, campus mail, parcels, accountable US mail, and bulk mail;

meters appropriate classes of outgoing US mail to both domestic and international destinations, in accordance with US Government Client Delivers/re-routes misplaced packages to appropriate building/employee Maintains Peralta Pavilion mailroom by sorting mail, monitoring inter-campus mail, and restocking supplies. Orders and stocks mailing supplies, postage, envelopes, boxes, and etc. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Skills:

Strong organizational and coordination skills Excellent customer service skills Knowledge of United States Post Office regulations Ability to understand and follow security and confidentiality guidelines Basic computer operating skills;
Microsoft Office Outlook, Calendar, etc. Flexible with day-to-day operations changes and ability to support immediate requests Ability to accurately sort and process all appropriate classes of mail Ability to follow schedules and meet deadlines

Education:

High school diploma or GED At least one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
