Position: Ph.D. Graduate Assistant at Oakland University

Graduate Administrative Assistants (GAs) provide 10–20 hours of service per week over the course of a semester that may include research and/or administrative support for faculty.

The Ph.D. Graduate Assistant for the Department of Teaching and Learning is an Oakland University graduate student enrolled in the Literacy, Culture & Language Doctoral Program.

Qualifications
  • Fully admitted and enrolled for at least 8 credits for the academic year in the Literacy, Culture & Language Doctoral Program.
  • Graduate coursework and/or research must directly contribute to the satisfaction of Oakland's degree requirements.
  • Maintain good academic standing (minimum 3.0 GPA).
  • Admitted and enrolled in the Literacy, Culture & Language Doctoral Program at Oakland University.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills using Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word.
  • Detail-oriented and employ excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledgeable about research theories and methodologies.
  • Must be able to work on projects independently.
Responsibilities
  • Provide 10–20 hours of service per week to faculty, including research and/or administrative support.
  • Assist with research projects, data collection, and analysis.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and materials using the Office suite.
  • Coordinate meetings and events related to upper-level coursework.
Expectations

2-semester commitment.

Tuition

Tuition (eight credits per semester or a total of 16 credits) will be compensated. Any additional credits and class fees, including books, will be the responsibility of the student.

Compensation

Students will receive a paycheck (via direct deposit if desired) on the last business day of each month for the duration of the assistantship.
