• Review project plans, specifications, and bid requests.
• Prepare accurate estimates by analyzing project scope, materials, and labor costs.
• Conduct on-site evaluations to assess project conditions and scope.
• Collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
• Prepare and present detailed proposals to clients.
• Work with sales and project management teams to transition projects from estimating to execution.
• Assist in developing cost-saving strategies and process improvements.
• Participate in business development efforts alongside the sales team.
• Conduct site visits with prospective clients and help qualify opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with property managers, general contractors, and commercial clients.
• Contribute to pipeline growth through proactive follow-up and opportunity tracking.
• This is not strictly a behind-the-desk estimating role. Client interaction and revenue contribution are part of the position.

• 2-5 years of estimating experience in asphalt paving, construction, or a related field.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills – must be comfortable working with measurements, geometry, and cost analysis.
• Passion for problem-solving and strategy
  , with the ability to identify competitive advantages in project bids.
• Experience using Microsoft Suite is required and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, or similar, is encouraged but not required.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Valid driver’s license
  , with a clean record, and willingness to travel for site visits.

Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 yearly

Forticon is an asphalt paving and maintenance contractor based in Oakland, CA, working in the public and private sectors alike around the Bay Area since 2015. We provide pavement maintenance, repair, and installation to new construction, Commercial and Industrial properties, Shopping Centers, Residential communities, and Apartment complexes. Our services include Asphalt Removal and Replacement, Protective Seal Coat, Sriping, Concrete Sitework, and Exterior ADA Improvements.
