Large public works project - Seeking Construction Project Manager
Location:
Hayward, CA
Salary: $130,000 - $145,000 per year
About the RoleAn established general contractor based out of Oakland, CA is looking to add a seasoned Construction Project Manager to their growing team. The role focuses on public work projects ranging from $5 to $12 million.
Key Responsibilities- Manage projects from award through closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules.
- Monitor budgets, forecasting, and cost controls.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and self‑perform crews.
- Ensure project compliance with contract documents and specifications.
- Manage procurement and material tracking.
- Serve as primary point of contact for owners, municipal agencies, inspectors, engineers, and consultants.
- Attend public meetings and progress meetings.
- Maintain professional client relationships.
- Prepare budget updates, pay applications, cost projections, change order pricing, and monthly reporting.
- Track labor productivity and equipment utilization.
- Support field operations and problem resolution.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA standards, company safety policies, environmental regulations, quality control, and contract compliance.
- Public Works Expertise: public bidding procedures, government contract administration, prevailing wage requirements, change order management, RFIs and submittals, public agency inspections, utility coordination, stormwater compliance, permit processes, ADA requirements, environmental compliance standards.
- Construction Knowledge: grading and paving, concrete structures, architectural buildouts, traffic control, site logistics, scheduling and sequencing, estimating and cost control, CPM scheduling.
- Software Proficiency:
Procore, Primavera P6.
- Seasoned experience leading public works projects.
- Strong technical knowledge as outlined above.
- Excellent communication and client management skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
