Position: Prospective Teacher TK-12 Substitute (2025-26)

DESCRIPTION:

Substitute teachers receive short-term assignments to cover teacher absences from the classroom and are responsible for following lesson plans to maintain and further student learning. Successful applicants will receive assignments through Smart Find Express substitute scheduling system.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* This position requires at minimum an Emergency Substitute Teacher Permit for Prospective Teachers issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)

* Candidates can qualify to apply for this Permit if they are enrolled in a regionally-accredited four-year California college or university, have a minimum of 90 semester units and have passed the CBEST exam

* If you have not yet passed the CBEST Test please schedule this test before applying or request a transcript evaluation from our office by emailing recruitment

REQUIREMENTS FOR HIRE

All applicants must:

* Complete application for this position (including 2 references)

* To expedite hire processing, candidates may gather the following materials - (these will be requested during onboarding):

* Negative TB test current within past 60 days

* Sealed copies of all college transcripts

* Valid Driver's License, , Permanent Residency Card or current US passport

* Social Security Card (no copies)

* Printout of your current credential

* Proof of passing CBEST or equivalent coursework

* Important Information Regarding the Basic Skills Requirement:

* On June 29, 2024, Governor Gavin Newsom signed a budget trailer bill, SB 153 (Chap. 38, Statutes of 2024), that allows candidates to use their bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (IHE) as demonstration of the basic skills requirement, effective immediately. * If your circumstances indicate you need this exam, you may already meet CBEST/Basic Skills through your SAT, ACT, Undergraduate coursework or another qualifying exam. Please check here for Basic Skills Requirement information and here for information about the CBEST exam.

All hires are contingent on applicant passing criminal background check.
