Overview
Learning Specialist - starting August 1, 2026. Head-Royce School is seeking an additional Learning Specialist to work in its Upper School division (grades 9-12). The Learning Specialist is a full-time, 10-month position and works alongside the other Upper School Learning Specialist. They are supervised by the Interim Head of Upper School.
The role is to facilitate an effective learning environment for students by supporting student learning, collaborating with teachers and administrators, and managing a defined student caseload.
Responsibilities- Manage student caseload for two grades, including writing student learning plans.
- Work with teachers, students, and families to implement accommodations and track student progress.
- Coordinate on- and off-campus tutoring services for students receiving tuition assistance.
- Support students in executive functioning and study skills.
- File standardized testing applications.
- Co-advise family and student advocacy work related to neurodiversity, including the Learning Differences Parent Network (LDN) and the Neurodiversity Affinity/Alliance student group (NDA); approximately three or four evening events per year with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities.
- Collaborate in professional development for Head-Royce faculty.
- Cross-divisional collaboration for transitions from Middle School and for K-12 learning support alignment.
- Admissions committee work (including reading files and following up with applicant families).

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Deep knowledge of equity-centered work.
- Strong organizational capacity.
- The ability to advocate for students and hold them accountable to high standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes unpredictable environment.

- Bachelor’s Degree with Graduate Degree preferred.
- 5 years minimum experience in learning support or related field.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and summarizing Psycho-educational, Neuropsychological, or Psychiatric reports.
- Teaching and/or tutoring experience; work with students with mild to moderate learning differences.
- Understanding and support of Head-Royce’s core values with strong emphasis on equity and community.
- Advanced degrees/certifications in related fields.
Salary
: $76,600 - $130,998 a year. Salary prorated depending on percentage of full-time employment. Dependent on Years of Experience Teaching and Education Level.
