Spanish Teacher – Full‑Time Temporary (Sabbatical Replacement)

The College Preparatory School, an independent high school in Oakland, California, seeks a temporary full‑time Spanish teacher. The role involves teaching four sections of approximately 16 students each (levels 2 and
3). The Spanish program focuses on creating full‑immersion classrooms where students practice interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational language skills and promote cultural competence.
• Teach Spanish language and cultural content in four classes, level 2 and 3.
• Design, implement, and assess engaging, performance‑based learning activities.
• Collaborate with other World Language teachers to refine curriculum, assessments, and assignments.
Qualifications- Be a holder of a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Spanish (a teaching credential is not required).
- Native or near‑native fluency in Spanish.
- Experience teaching Spanish at the high‑school or college level.
- Have a teaching philosophy that centers cultural competence and performance‑based learning.
- Show eagerness to embrace spirited intellectual challenges in a rewarding academic environment.
- Demonstrate patience, flexibility, and a good sense of humor.
Faculty are compensated on a step scale based on years of experience, ranging from $72,500 for teachers with no prior relevant experience to $143,700 for teachers with 44 years of prior experience. Temporary hires are not eligible for benefits.
