Minimum Qualifications- Degree from college or university in Education, Special Education, or related field.>
- Ability to take a leadership role and work in a team environment.
- Must be comfortable using computers and have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Google Meet platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player with direction from the OUCARES Administrative team.
- ASD certified with at least 2 years’ experience leading a classroom with individuals with ASD.
- CPI training preferred.
- Current CPR / First Aid certification preferred.
Summer Camp Teachers lead a summer camp experience dedicated to empowering autistic children, teens, and/or adults s role requires leadership in ensuring camper safety, maximizing engagement, and promoting critical skills maintenance over the summer. Teachers take on full ownership of the camp curriculum, from planning and hands‑on implementation, to daily supervision and evaluation. Teachers must demonstrate strong leadership in guiding their classroom team, communicating seamlessly with staff and families, while aligning with OUCARES policies and procedures.
Teachers develop and manage positive behavioral interventions to meet the diverse needs of every camper.
- Regular attendance for all camp days. Additional time commitments are required for training, curriculum planning meetings, team meetings, and classroom setup.
- Develop the camp curriculum, set up activities, carry out lessons, and ensure a clean and well‑organized classroom following all camp activities.
- Create and implement positive behavior supports for the campers.
- Initiate positive interactions and actively engage with campers (children, teens, and/or adults). Treat all campers with inherent dignity and respect, prioritizing their autonomy and self‑determination. Implement an individualized, strengths‑based approach that is appropriate to each camper.
- Daily communication with families of campers to relay information about how the day went, items needed, and weekly events.
- Promote safety at all times. Ensure the classroom and all camp spaces remain clean and organized. Follow all OUCARES policies and procedures while leading camp.
