Teacher Education Adjunct Faculty Hiring for the Teacher Ed Branch Campus - East Bay at Merritt College in Oakland, CA
The Teacher Education Department in the School of Education at the University of San Francisco is looking for adjunct instructors to teach the following courses in Fall 2024. Candidates should be committed to the mission and values of the Teacher Education Department.
OPEN POSITIONS FOR FALL 2024TEC 610 – Learning and Teaching
Explores key elements of learning and teaching in socio‑culturally diverse classrooms. Provides opportunities to practice curriculum design, assessment, and classroom strategies that promote engagement and reflective practice. Requires additional fieldwork such as classroom observations at a school site.

TEC 618 – Teaching for Diversity and Social Justice
This course analyzes forces that contribute to educational injustices and explores culturally responsive teaching, transformative curriculum, and other anti‑oppression practices. The goal is to develop teachers as change agents and advocates for historically marginalized students.

TEC 643 – Education of Exceptional Children
Introduces special education, nondiscriminatory assessment, and modification of curricula and instructional methods. Topics include assistive and adaptive technologies for the classroom.

TEC 621 – Multiple Subject Curriculum and Instruction:
Early Literacy
Focuses on development of a balanced literacy program for grades PK–3, covering reading, writing, listening, speaking, and critical literacy. Includes assessment and instructional planning. Fifteen (15) hours of fieldwork required.

TEC 615 – Single Subject Curriculum and Instruction I:
Math or Science
Introduces scope & sequence, pedagogical approaches, and instructional materials for middle and high school math or science.

TEC 602 – Multiple Subject Curriculum and Instruction:
Visual and Performing Arts
Studies research and practice related to visual and performing arts instruction in elementary schools.

TEC 642 – Health Education
Explores content and instructional methods for teaching personal, family, and community health, including nutrition and substance misuse. CPR certificate is not included.

Adjuncts are paid per credit hour.
