Student Services Coordinator

The Student Services Coordinator supports the design, coordination, and execution of cohort-based programming at Northeastern University's Oakland campus. This role plays a central part in execution of Student Programming, shaping the student experience by fostering a sense of belonging, community, and connection during a critical transition period. Works collaboratively across Student Life and campus partners to deliver intentional, inclusive programming, events, and community outreach that supports the academic, personal, and social success of students.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required;
    Master's degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in student affairs, first-year programs, orientation, or related higher education programming.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student affairs.
  • Proven expertise in event planning, coordination, and program management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across diverse constituencies, including students, families, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to build and sustain collaborative working relationships within a multicultural environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, particularly during orientation periods and peak programming cycles.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Programming

  • Design, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive calendar of cohort-based programs and events that support student transition, connection, and success.
  • Develop intentional programming sequences that build community within first-year cohorts across the academic year, from pre-arrival through the end of the first year.
  • Assess program effectiveness through data collection, participant feedback, and outcome reporting; use findings to inform continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with academic affairs, advising, and other campus partners to integrate curricular and co-curricular touchpoints into student experience.
  • Support the planning and execution of student programs

2. Student Staff Oversight

  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student staff and peer leaders who support first-year programs and orientation initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, development, and performance evaluation for student staff to ensure high-quality program delivery.

3. Administrative Functions

  • Manage budgets for areas of responsibility, including purchasing, expense tracking, forecasting, and Concur submissions.
  • Prepare program reports, assessments, and communications as needed to support departmental operations and institutional reporting.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable university policies, regulations, and procedures; ensure programmatic compliance.
  • Represent the department on Student Life, departmental, and campus-wide committees as assigned.

4. Community Outreach & Resource Connection

  • Serve as a primary connector between students and external community organizations, proactively identifying and cultivating partnerships that expand resource access and support student needs.
  • Provide individualized support and mentoring to students and student organizations, initiating referrals to community and campus resources as appropriate.
  • Build and maintain an active network of community partners to enrich programming offerings and create pathways for students beyond the campus environment.
