Opening Statement

Berkeley Rose Waldorf School invites applications for a Grades Lead Class Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 academic year. The successful candidate will bring warmth, confidence, and thoughtful classroom leadership while working collaboratively with colleagues and families to create a rich educational experience grounded in Waldorf pedagogy, our school mission, and the developmental needs of the children. The ideal candidate is a certified Waldorf teacher or is actively completing Waldorf teacher training, has successful classroom teaching experience, values collegial collaboration, and is committed to ongoing professional growth.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.

Berkeley Rose Waldorf School is a vibrant, metropolitan school located in a beautiful, walkable neighborhood in Oakland, California. We are three blocks from an avenue known for its shops and restaurants, with easy access to the greater San Francisco Bay Area and stunning nature in every direction. Essential

Job Duties Primary Responsibilities
  • Take primary responsibility for children in the class (approximately 20 or more children per class)
  • Plan and carry out all areas of curriculum according to Waldorf pedagogy
  • Write narrative reports for the end of the year; rubrics for the mid- and end-of-the-year
  • Lead Parent/Teacher conferences three times per year for each child on designated days
  • Create and maintain a clean and orderly classroom, including seasonal changes
  • Participating in faculty meetings, mentoring, professional development, and school events
  • Supervising students during recess, lunch, and other assigned times
  • Maintaining attendance, student records, and classroom organization
  • Helping cultivate welcoming, inclusive classrooms where every child and family feels a sense of belonging
Qualifications
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent experience.
  • Have completed, or be currently enrolled in, Waldorf Teacher Training.
  • Have experience working with children in educational settings.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Be dependable, reflective, and committed to professional growth.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, Adult and Child CPR/First Aid certification provided by the school.
Employment Details Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $70,000–$74,600 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
