JOB GOALS:

Under the direction of the Head of School or designee, the Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher delivers lesson plans, provides classroom supervision, supports student learning, and ensures that school and district policies are followed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher.

Maintain a positive and orderly learning environment.

Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunch areas, playgrounds, and other assigned locations.

Provide instructional support, answer student questions, and facilitate activities.

Communicate with school staff regarding students need, attendance, or behavior issues

Follow all school and district policies, rules and procedures to ensure student safety and compliance

Leave detailed notes or feedback for the regular classroom teacher regarding student progress and classroom activities

Adapt teaching methods or provide supplemental materials as necessary to support student understanding.

Report incidents, accidents or disciplinary issues to appropriate school personnel.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited University or College Valid California Teaching Credential or have equivalent professional background and experience that would qualify candidates to apply and receive certification. English Language Learner Authorization required 2+ years working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant ( preferred) Willingness to commit to 3-year employment with AIMS (preferred but not required) Fingerprint clearance and TB clearance are required.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge and application of child cognitive development and various learning styles Knowledge of various subject matters, including Common Core Standards and subject-specific frameworks, and AP instruction. Familiarity with post-secondary requirements, ACT and SAT Knowledge of assessment creation and data analysis. Ability and willingness to implement AIMS standards. Capacity and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices to better serve students. Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community.
