Class Purpose
Peralta Community College District is seeking qualified Part-Time Faculty members to provide high-quality instruction and student support in accordance with the District's mission of advancingequity, student success, and academic excellence. Part-time faculty are responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive instruction that promotes student learning and achievement while supporting the diverse educational goals of the District's students.
Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day,evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District's colleges.
Examples of DutiesExamples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved course outlines and student learning outcomes.
- Prepare and deliver effective, student-centered instructionusing evidence-based teaching practices.
- Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials,assignments, and assessments.
- Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable mannerand maintain accurate academic records.
- Submit grades and other required reports by established deadlines.
- Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
- Maintain regular communication with students and respondpromptly to inquiries.
- Utilize the District's learning management system and otherinstructional technologies as appropriate.
- Comply with District policies, collective bargaining agreements, accreditation standards, and applicable federal andstate regulations.
- Participate in department meetings, professional development,and other college activities as appropriate for part-timefaculty.
- Possession of a Master’s degree in the ethnic studies field
OR - Possession of a master’s degree in American Studies/Ethnicity,Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Central American Studies, Latin American Studies, Cross Cultural Studies, Race and Ethnic Relations, Asian-American Studies, or African-American Studies
OR - The equivalent OR
- Possession of a Master's degree in the interdisciplinary area
OR - Possession of a Master's degree in one of the disciplinesincluded in the interdisciplinary area and upper division or graduate course work in at least one other constituentdiscipline
- Understanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverseacademic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of Peralta Colleges’ students, faculty, staff and community.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as established bythe California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. Applicants are required to demonstrate that they meet the minimum qualifications by submitting official or unofficial transcripts and providing a complete and detailed record of relevant professional work experience in their application materials.
The District will review education and work history to determine whether minimum qualifications are met. Determinations are made in accordance with Title 5 regulations and District procedures.
Official transcripts and additional verification of employment
will be required upon offer of employment.
Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications exactly mayapply for equivalency. Equivalency determinations are made througha separate review process in accordance with Districtprocedures.
The Equivalency Committee will consider only those applicants who formally request equivalency consideration bysubmitting the Completed Equivalency Request Form . The form should be submitted to amritnamkaurbefore the application close date. Be sure to attach detailedevidence, such as unofficial transcripts and/or othercertifications that support the equivalency.

For disciplines requiring a degree and professional experience,applicants must clearly describe how their education and work experience meet the stated minimum qualifications.
