REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Direct instructional aides for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
  • Teaches/instructs K-12 curriculum to students for the purpose of ensuring successful progress toward students' IEP goals and objectives.
  • Schedules services for students for the purpose of providing effective support for students.
  • Participate in and coordinate a variety of meetings in compliance with 504, IEP, and IDEA regulations.
  • Review, process, and maintain special education files for individual students and ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, local board policies, and administrative guidelines.
  • Consult/collaborate with staff, parents, and agencies for the purpose of ensuring the appropriate delivery of services.
  • Actively seek and participate in professional development and professional learning communities to remain current with federal and state special education guidelines and research-based best practices.
  • Provide support with transportation for students with disabilities or act as the point-person for students with transportation services as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • California Educational Specialist credential (Mild/Moderate) or ability to obtain an Intern Education Specialist credential
  • CLAD/BCLAD Credential
  • 3+ years of successful experience working as an Education Specialist in an inclusive setting
  • Experience providing crisis assessment, management, and interventions, preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Data Driven Planning and Assessment
  • Work with the Head and Assistant Head of School to develop action plans to support students' continuous learning and growth.
  • Work with general education teachers to develop strategies for supporting special education students and ensuring IEP implementation in the regular classroom setting.
  • Conduct IEP meetings.
  • Maintain service logs, progress records and record progress towards objectives and learning goals in the areas of academics, behavioral, social-emotional, motor development, communication skills, transition and vocational development, as appropriate and determined by students' IEP.
  • Communicate and coordinate special needs evaluation and testing with speech teachers, psychologists and other service providers.
  • Communicate with parents regarding individual student progress and conduct.
  • Administer and score individual and group tests for the purpose of assessing student levels and progress made towards IEP goals.
  • Supervise the implementation of accommodations with state assessments for students receiving special education support.

  • Monitor students' participation in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing safe and positive learning experiences.

  • Assist in the creation of a learning environment that is conducive to encouraging success for students using all learning modalities.
Instruction
