CAD Technician Job Description

Join an international multidisciplinary firm as a CAD Technician, where you will play a key role in drafting and designing using AutoCAD to support projects related to coastlines, harbors, and transportation. This position is based in either Oakland or Walnut Creek and requires at least three years of experience in AutoCAD drafting for civil engineering projects. A Bachelor's or Associate's degree is preferred, and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential.

• Transform initial rough designs, sketches, and redlines into finished graphics and construction documents.
• Assist the CAD Manager with designs for site development and transportation projects.
• Draft detailed drawings for various structures including cargo terminals, marinas, bridges, and hydraulic structures.
• Review engineering drawings to ensure compliance with established CAD standards.
• Conduct 2D and 3D CAD modeling.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD with Civil 3D experience being highly desired.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Minimum of two years of related experience.
• Understanding and application of CAD standards.
• Good numeracy, geometry, and computer skills.

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Associate's Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline is required.
• Microstation experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of material properties and construction methods.
• Experience with ArcGIS and Navisworks is preferred.

The position is onsite in either Walnut Creek or Oakland, fostering a close-knit office environment. The manager values work‑life balance and does not require overtime beyond 40 hours, though additional work is available if desired. The office takes pride in its low turnover rates, which contribute to strong continuity within the team.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, CA.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
