Department Overview

The aim of the Integrated Grid Planning (IGP) Program is to build multi-year optimized investment plans for the Electric organization. This Program engages with multiple teams across the electric organization to quantify the electric system needs, gather solutions to solve those needs, capture cost to execute those solutions and impact of each solution on enterprise risk. With this information the Program will create an optimized multi-year work plan to solve as much needs as possible with the least amount of resources.

This plan will be created in cooperation with asset management, business finance and operations to ensure it meets the expectations of our asset owners, ensure excitability by our operations team and meets the affordability targets for our customers. IGP Solutions Team, the team under which this position is situated, is the technical arm of the IGP program.

Position Summary

We are looking for an Expert Engineer to team up with us in building the technical arm of the IGP Program. You will have a unique opportunity to join a new team to develop novel tools and implement software solutions at the forefront of utility industry analytics and integrated investment planning. In this role you will team up with cross functional teams, including data scientists, asset engineers, risk engineers, technology experts, and subject matter experts to develop data driven solutions to ensure the organization is able to expand IGP software solutions to achieve business outcomes.

It is the perfect role for someone who would like to continue to build upon their professional experience and gain a comprehensive view of the nation’s most advance smart grid.

Position will require minimal travel on an as needed basis.

Incumbent will be expected to be in office at least 2 days a week (more in office time may be needed depending on business need).

Salary Range

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum:$140,000
Bay Area Maximum:$238,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative, cross-functional, technical solutions that enable Integrated Grid Planning (IGP) across PG&E’s business, with a focus on scalable and sustainable system design.
  • Gather and translate business requirements into clear design documentation, technical specifications, and software test plans. Lead and conduct technology testing and validation efforts, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and support deployment of new tools and solutions.
  • Establish and maintain standards and processes to ensure consistent implementation and long-term support of newly developed solutions.
  • Configure and scale enterprise-level technical products, ensuring alignment with organizational architecture and long-term planning needs.
  • Propose and support development of new value models, including drafting technical specifications and collaborating on model design and configuration.
  • Partner with leadership to interpret planning needs, design new value measures, and configure corresponding technical solutions.
  • Review and interpret existing risk models to validate optimization outcomes and ensure consistency with engineering logic and business priorities.
