Senior, Advanced Application Engineer

Position Summary

The Grid Operations, Applications, and Transformation (GOAT) team is dedicated to implementing and maintaining PG&E's Operational Technologies supporting Grid and Distribution Control Centers.

These platforms include the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), a foundational component of a sustainable energy future and the Grid of Tomorrow.

We are seeking accomplished, integrity-driven, diverse, and collaborative individuals to join us as a Senior Advanced Applications Engineer. The Senior Advanced Applications Engineer will support GOAT's Product Owners in the development and day‑to‑day support of Grid Control and ADMS Advanced Applications. Example applications include Load Flow, State Estimation, FLISR (Fault Location Isolation and Service Restoration), Volt/VAR Optimization, Dynamic Protection, Switching Management, Outage Management, and system automation schemes.

The successful candidate will be a key contributor, partnering closely with Engineering, Grid Operations, IT stakeholders, and the system vendors.

This role offers the opportunity to help build new solutions and support system architecture for a leading‑edge technology initiative that enhances Transmission Grid Applications, SCADA, Outage Management, Advanced Applications within ADMS and Distributed Energy Resource Management capabilities across PG&E's electric grid. Responsibilities span requirements gathering, system design, evaluation, deployment, and ongoing support. Strong organizational, communication, and business analysis skills are essential to understand user needs, align them with vendor capabilities, and drive team consensus.

Once the applications are operational, this role will also influence the design of support and operations teams.

PG&E is providing a salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case‑by‑case basis related to these factors.
