This is an excellent opportunity to learn from our senior staff and gain a wide range of experience. Candidates will work with engineers and technical staff to contribute to the development of projects from conception to completed construction. This position will support GEI’s geotechnical and civil/water resources engineering practices, which provide engineering design services for a wide range of projects and clients.

Occasional field engineering may also be assigned.

Representative projects include dam safety evaluations, geotechnical site investigations, and drafting with AutoCAD Civil3D.

  • Support work in the following engineering disciplines:

    Geotechnical Engineering (Dam Safety, Earthquake Engineering, Site Investigations), Civil Design (Design Drawings), Water Resources (Hydrology and Hydraulics), and Structural (Hydraulic Structures).
  • Support preparing and revising project plans, specifications, construction scheduling, and cost estimates.
  • Assist with drafting in CAD or mapping in GIS.
  • Develop spreadsheets and databases.
  • Perform field work as needed to support projects including but not limited to field observation and data collection, drill rig observation, soil and water sample collection, and support of other field investigations.
  • Work will be directed by various project managers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in civil engineering, ideally with coursework completed in geotechnical, water resource, and structural engineering, geology, and computer aided drafting.
  • Excellent writing skills required.
  • Experience in summer internship, or other professional position strongly preferred but not required.
  • Interest in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil3D preferred.
  • Ability to perform field work in active construction sites year-round without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required.
  • Willingness to travel on temporary assignments as needed.
  • A valid driver's license and willing to work in the field as required.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member.
