Consulting Engineer/Senior Consulting Engineer, Structural Engineering

• Work on a wide range of structural-engineering projects involving steel, concrete, masonry and wood structures. Focus on seismic assessment/retrofit and repair/rehabilitation/restoration of existing buildings.
• Plan and conduct site investigations to document existing conditions.
• Execute the construction-administration phase, including bid assistance, submittal review, site meetings and observations of completed work.
• Serve as a manager on projects such as:
  • Condition assessments of existing buildings
  • Design of repair/rehabilitation/restoration measures and preparation of construction documents
  • Design and detailing of structural components for adaptive reuse and modifications of existing building structures
  • Investigation of structural failures and adverse performance issues
  • Preparation of technical reports
• Maintain direct client contact within the context of assigned work.
• Pursue professional activities to gain recognition.
• Publish articles/papers and give technical presentations.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural analysis and design of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood-frame structures (Consulting Engineer). Senior roles consider more experience.
• MS in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineering license required;
  Structural Engineering license preferred.
• Proficient in writing and editing project specifications, technical reports, field reports, correspondence, and proposals.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage project budgets.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Proficient with computer analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE, PERFORM 3D).
• Ability to travel to remote job sites not accessible by public transportation and, if applicable, an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.

Base salary is part of SGH’s industry-leading Total Compensation package. The package includes base salary, pay for extra hours, an annual discretionary bonus program, generous paid time off, and extensive health and wellness benefits with a strong emphasis on company contributions to medical insurance premiums and the company’s Profit Sharing & 401(k) Plan.

This position is eligible for a $7,500 sign-on bonus.
