Position OverviewAs a Senior Commissioning Lead you will lead our Bay Area presence, build and enhance client relationships, manage project teams to high‑impact outcomes and help grow the company.
Impact – First 12 Months- Lead the delivery of high‑impact projects by joining multiple in‑flight new construction projects and collaborating across the team to finish them.
- Kick off new engagements and build new client relationships to set the stage for successful delivery.
- Deploy analytics faster and better by learning how Altura deploys analytics as soon as systems come online to provide visibility and early problem‑solving on jobsites.
- Innovate by bringing your unique perspective and skillset to expand capabilities and solutions for our clients.
- Mentor and scale by leading our Bay Area office and guiding emerging engineers and project managers in client work and professional development.
- Baseline: 8+ years in Mechanical Engineering/Commissioning with a PE License (required) and CCP or BCxA certification.
- Engineering Mastery:
Expert‑level understanding of hydronic systems, air‑side distribution, electrical systems and complex BAS logic/sequences. - Digital Fluency:
Experience leveraging Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) software and the ability to translate time‑series data into engineering insights. - Project Management Excellence:
Proven track record delivering large and complex commissioning engagements. - Client Communications:
Ability to explain the ROI of a $2M chiller plant upgrade with equal clarity to a Facility Manager and a CFO.

- Manage a portfolio of clients and projects, including client relationships, team leadership, technical oversight and schedule & budget management.
- Lead data‑driven commissioning projects, leveraging Altura Analytics and industry software tools to deliver superior client outcomes and building performance.
- Maintain and grow a presence for Altura in Northern CA through active engagement in local industry associations, speaking engagements and thought leadership.
- Lead business development efforts to grow Altura’s client base and expand services with existing clients.
- Client outreach, business development and proposals are expected to average 20% of your time.
- Execute project work and manage internal teams to deliver:
- New Construction Commissioning and Performance Delivery Projects, including project management, design reviews, submittal reviews, Cx documentation coordination, contractor scheduling and Cx strategy support, functional testing, analytics‑driven testing and analysis.
- Existing Building Audits and Commissioning Projects, including ASHRAE Level 1 & 2 Audits, field testing, energy savings project development, analytics‑driven analysis, calculation of energy conservation measure performance, project presentations, bid document development, implementation support, M&V.
- Work out of the Altura office in Oakland, CA on a hybrid in‑office basis.
- Travel within the U.S. to engage with clients and manage projects as needed; travel is expected to average 10‑20% of the year.
- 10+ years of experience in the engineering field (mechanical preferred), including building energy engineering (MEP and controls), commissioning and project management.
