Job Description
Our thriving multidisciplinary tunnel practice in California is looking for an experienced Tunnel Engineer to join the growing team in our Oakland office. AECOM works on high profile, industry‑leading infrastructure projects in the US and overseas, including a variety of significant projects for local and national governments, water and transportation authorities, and many other clients. We work on projects through all stages from feasibility through design, construction, operation, maintenance, and asset management.
The Oakland team brings together the skills of project managers, civil engineers, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, numerical modelers, and a wide range of related disciplines, providing clients with technically innovative, integrated, sustainable, and cost‑effective solutions.
Responsibilities- Provide analysis and design support for technical and feasibility studies for water infrastructure projects, including preparation of technical reports and memoranda.
- Develop conceptual layouts and designs and perform supporting calculations and analyses.
- Develop plans and technical specifications and participate in construction cost estimating.
- Participate in field roles during construction projects to further develop engineering design skills.
- Verify design implementation and adherence to quality requirements through site inspections and office engineering support services during construction.
- Build analytic and design skills; conduct engineering design under supervision of an experienced engineer; create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under supervision; collect and analyze data; use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems; perform work in accordance with agreed budget and schedule under supervision.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's in Civil or Geological Engineering and 2 years of experience with an emphasis/interest in Geotechnical Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering.
- Compensation range: $82,000 to $130,000 yearly, based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
- Sponsorship available for this position.
- Relocation is not available for this role.

Hybrid.
