We are actively looking for a Water Resources Engineer to join our growing resilience practice in Oakland, CA. As a key member of the WRES team, you will prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for civil, drainage, and stormwater projects;
design stormwater and drainage systems; develop surface water hydraulic, hydrologic, and hydrodynamic modeling; perform engineering calculations related to surface water and drainage; analyze system flow, flood risk, and mitigation alternatives; address local, state, and federal flood management regulations; prepare exhibits, reports, and presentations; and coordinate with government agencies, local authorities, contractors, and internal team members.

- Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates in support of final bid packages
- Prepare written and graphic reports and make presentations
- Prepare various draft documents, including reports and technical memoranda
- Perform 1D and 2D riverine hydraulic modeling
- Perform numerical modeling in support of stormwater and drainage improvements projects
- Participate in design activities and meetings between project team members, subcontractors, and client managers
- Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, feasibility, cost, construction approaches, and scheduling performance
- Resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways

Required Education And Experience- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; required
- 6 or more years of experience; required
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in California or ability to obtain via reciprocity within twelve (12) months; required
- Has a wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with team members and project managers
- Background and/or experience with engineering analysis and design of various project types including a combination of:
- Floodplain mapping and floodplain management
- FEMA Floodplain Regulations and Standards
- Stormwater hydrology and hydraulic modeling; stormwater and drainage infrastructure permitting and design
- Watershed assessment & planning
- Urban flood risk and floodplain management
- Flood protection and resilience
- Low impact development/green infrastructure
- Preparing project scope and fee proposals
- Construction principles, including survey, inspection, and engineering methods and materials, and surveying methods and techniques
- Working knowledge of software programs and techniques, which should include:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM/XPSWMM/PCSWMM, Infoworks ICM, ESRI GIS, Microsoft Office
Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
Base Salary Range$120,000 to $155,000 annually based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting the required qualifications in the job description.
Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the California market.
