Overview
What We’re Looking For:
An aviation planning professional with excellent analytical, communication skills and a passion for aviation. The role focuses on delivering and growing aviation planning projects at the nation’s largest airports, within multiple HNTB locations.
- Perform complex professional planning, environmental planning, landscape architecture and urban design duties, leading technical tasks.
- Write and review major sections of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents, coordinating contributions from team members.
- Lead the preparation and review of graphics, technical reports, work plans, scopes of work, fee proposals, and RFP responses, including budgets, invoicing, and billing.
- Lead public and stakeholder engagement and present findings to the community.
- Provide guidance and mentor staff.
- Coordinate with clients, sub‑consultants and in‑house personnel to complete assigned tasks.
- Recommend process and system improvements for greater efficiencies and improved service delivery.
- Support department managers and office leadership with strategic planning, staffing/training, and special projects.
- Serve as project manager or task lead as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, or related field with 10 years of related experience.
- Master’s Degree in any of the aforementioned fields with 9 years of relevant experience.
- Direct and oversee technical work for multidisciplinary airport planning and preliminary design projects.
- Lead capacity analyses for airport facilities.
- Develop concepts and alternative drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and ArcGIS.
- Prepare technical reports for airport planning studies.
- Interpret and oversee airport simulation models.
- Respond quickly to client requests.
- Prepare stakeholder and public presentations.
- Build client relationships.
- Assist with business development activities including proposal preparation and interviews.
- Mentor junior and mid‑level staff.
- Be an expert in one or more key aviation planning disciplines (e.g., Landside, Terminal, Airside, Land Use, Airspace).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Aviation Management, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field with 10 years of experience.
- Extensive airport planning experience at large hub airports.
- Project management experience focused on profitability.
- Strong understanding of the aviation industry.
- Excellent written, verbal, and graphical communication skills.
- Commitment to delivering extraordinary client service.
- Experience serving multiple clients simultaneously across several time zones.
