Job description
This is a full‑time on‑site position (office & job sites within the SF Bay Area). The role of the Project Engineer is to assist with planning, carrying out, and finalizing projects according to contract scope and schedule under the direction and approval of the Project Manager. Responsibilities include gathering quotes for subcontractors, vendors, and consultants; managing product submittals, shop drawing tracking, and obtaining project approvals;
updating documents, posting RFIs, preparing estimates and change proposals; cost coding base contracts and change orders; inspecting product shipments and fabrication in shop and field. Work scope increases with experience, potentially advancing to Assistant Project Manager.
- Build and maintain product submittal packages based on job specifications.
- Coordinate with engineering and detailing teams for submittal and tracking of shop drawings, as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, commissioning reports, RFIs, and change orders.
- Request quotes for fixtures, equipment, and large material purchases prior to purchase.
- Create comparison spreadsheets for fixture, specialty, equipment, and large material quotes; review and select vendors with the Project Manager.
- Request quotes from subcontractors and consultants; review and select with the Project Manager.
- Prepare subcontractor contracts for review and approval by the Project Manager.
- Conduct weekly site visits to verify installation conforms to product drawings and specifications; inventory installed work; copy and file foremen daily reports.
- Attend in-house preconstruction startup meetings.
- Attend QA/QC, start-up, and commissioning meetings.
- Maintain change estimates, transmittals, RFIs, and other logs.
- Maintain record‑keeping devices for clear project history.
- Communicate immediately to supervisor any safety, design, delay, cost overrun, or other elements that could lead to disputes or claims.
- Participate in cross‑training to assist team members as needed.
- Process change orders.
0 to 5 years of experience in related construction trades. BSME or BS in Construction Management preferred.
Essential Physical FunctionsThe Project Engineer will operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices; may need to sit for extended periods; perform field walks to observe system installation and building construction, including navigating stairs, ladders, and uneven surfaces.

Excel, Word, CADD‑EST, Outlook, Raken, Microsoft Project, Blue Beam, BIM
360, View Point, Textura, Procor, or other relevant software.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
