Entry Level Environmental Technician – Oakland, California

Intertek is actively seeking an Entry Level Environmental Technician to join our Environmental team in Oakland, CA. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the environmental industry. The role involves environmental consulting work, including field sampling of building contaminants, indoor air quality assessments, and green building certifications.

Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week; shift may vary depending on workload.

The base wage for this position is $22-25 per hour. Compensation packages are based on factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job‑related reasons. • Perform field sampling of building materials for asbestos, lead, PBCs, and other common contaminants.
• Perform field sampling of indoor air quality assessments.
• Perform field sampling for green building certification components such as LEED and WELL.
• Provide field support in environmental projects such as soil and groundwater sampling.
• Prepare field documentation and reports.
• Maintain training records, field instrumentation, and certifications.
• Coordinate project data, records, and reports related to work assignments.
• Participate in QA/QC and safety programs.
• Perform other assignments as assigned by management.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience in environmental consulting, including asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold inspection, sampling, and remediation.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work off shifts, overtime, and occasional out-of-town travel.
• Ability to lift items weighing more than 40 pounds multiple times as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Some out-of-town travel may be required.

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, or Physical Science.
• 1+ year of experience in indoor air quality assessments.
• CA State Asbestos Building Inspector Certification.
• CA State Lead Inspector Certification.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment used for environmental remediation and consulting.
• Knowledge of industrial hygiene and practical environmental concepts, principles, and practices.
