Join our Bay Area team as a Soils Inspector (Group
3) at Consolidated Engineering Laboratories (CEL).
- Confirm recommendations of the geotechnical engineer as described in the geotechnical reports implemented by the earthwork contractor.
- Read and understand plans and specifications.
- Confirm adherence to current regulatory agency grading ordinances and building codes.
- Keep up to date daily on all current projects via project managers and other technicians/inspectors.
- Perform in place density tests.
- Maintain an organized field file containing field and laboratory data, reports, letters, and other pertinent field documentation.
- Communicate clearly and daily with the direct supervisor and project manager regarding all aspects of the field operations, including bringing on-site issues to the project manager’s attention, preparing and reviewing all field paperwork, maps and test sheets, and submitting them on a daily/weekly basis.
- Write daily field reports.
- Hold a valid ICC Soils Special Inspector certification.
- Hold certification in CPN Radiation Safety and be trained in the use of a Nuclear Soil Gauge.
- Have at least 2 years of soils and concrete testing experience.
- Have completed OSHA 10 Hour Course with certification.
- Possess excellent communication skills and computer proficiency for daily reporting.
- Be able to read, analyze and interpret design plans and project instructions.
- Be willing to work in all regions of the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and a clean MVR.
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
$53 – $53.69 hourly. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
