Acoustical Engineer/Consultant

Coffman Engineers is seeking a talented and self‑motivated Acoustical Engineer/Consultant with 1–4 years of experience to join our Bay Area team. The selected candidate will provide comprehensive acoustical consulting services from initial feasibility studies through design, permitting, and construction support, working closely in multidisciplinary teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in acoustics, mechanical engineering, architecture, or a related technical field.
• 1–4 years of experience in acoustical consulting.
• Proficiency with SoundPLAN (preferred).
• Ability to perform acoustical measurements using appropriate equipment.
• Experience in multidisciplinary settings (preferred).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Critical thinking, problem‑solving, and collaborative mindset.
• Motivation to learn and adopt new technologies and practices.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to assist with design development and project reporting.

• Perform acoustical analysis and modeling for building and environmental projects.
• Conduct site measurements and testing using industry‑standard equipment.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for design teams and clients.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate acoustical solutions.
• Support permitting and compliance documentation throughout project phases.

• Approximate base salary: $75,000–$98,000.
• Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate.
• Competitive end‑of‑year discretionary bonus based on performance.
• Hybrid work schedule (minimum in‑person 3 days per week, optional remote days).
• 401(k) with up to 5% contribution match on 9% employee contribution.
