What You Will Do
Staff Engineer, Geotechnical Dams & Hydraulics for GFT Infrastructure Inc. will work from our Oakland, CA Regional Office and may telecommute up to two days a week. Responsibilities include performing engineering calculations, preparing technical studies and plans and specifications for a variety of projects – new dams, dam and spillway rehabilitation, decommissioning, levees, outlet facilities, erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management, culverts, outfalls, open channels, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies, inundation mapping, structure foundations, natural and engineered slopes, dredging operations and dam inspections.
Provide general oversight and management of design-related activities, technical reviews, report and letter preparation, client requirement determination, contract document development, and coordination with clients and other disciplines. Review and approve hydrologic, hydraulic calculations and modeling, stability analyses, vendor drawings and provide project recommendations. Consult with construction personnel on field conditions, sequencing and scheduling, ensure delivery of drawings and specifications meeting scope, schedule, cost and quality, and federal, state and local requirements.
Direct and supervise junior engineers. Manage subsurface investigation programs. Communicate independently with clients. Lead tasks and simple project teams. Little national travel: less than 60 days per year and 10 days per trip. Salary $155,667 per year.
Must have a Bachelors in Engineering or related field and 4 years of relevant experience designing water facilities. Requires 4 years experience in design software and GIS (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SITES, CADD, MS Office), and experience managing small work groups and project tasks. Also requires a PE license. Apply at
CompensationThe salary range for this role is $150,000 - $155,667. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
