Associate Civil Engineer
East Bay Municipal Utility District's (EBMUD's) Process Engineering Section, part of the Water Quality Office in the Operations and Maintenance Department, is currently seeking an Associate Civil Engineer who is motivated, energetic, a team player, and technically competent and experienced with drinking water regulations, drinking water treatment, and water quality engineering. Reporting to a Senior Engineer, the Associate Civil Engineer is the registered professional engineer level position on the EBMUD civil engineering career ladder.
Specific responsibilities may include:
- Oversee drinking water regulatory compliance programs
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and analyze operational strategies for water quality in all portions of EBMUD's water system: watersheds, source water reservoirs, treatment plants, and distribution system
- Plan and carry out bench-scale and pilot-scale experiments to evaluate water treatment technologies, prepare for water treatment plant capital improvements, optimize operational practices, and adjust to changes in source water quality
- Develop water quality monitoring plans, coordinate sampling, and analyze data
- Conduct watershed sanitary surveys
- Review capital project design proposals and drawings for operational and water quality issues
- Review proposed regulatory changes and assess their potential impact to District's operations
- Support the Water Operations Department in the implementation of advanced data analytics and visualization tools and contribute insights to the design and development of work management systems
- Support and advise the Water Operations Department on a wide range of water quality, regulatory, and water treatment topics
The most competitive candidates will be proficient in drinking water regulations, water treatment engineering principles, and drinking water quality concerns. They will have knowledge in water chemistry, microbiology, and hydraulics, and have experience planning, conducting, and evaluating complex engineering studies. Furthermore, candidates must possess a high degree of technical literacy, with experience in managing projects, delivering professional oral and written reports, and rapidly adapting to emerging computing platforms.

The salary range is $13,124 per month increasing to $13,780, $14,469, $15,192 and $15,952 after 6, 18, 30, and 42 months, respectively.
