Senior Transportation Engineer
Under the general direction of the Office Chief, the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans, performs the duties and responsibilities associated with all phases of the transportation project development process. This includes directing the work of transportation engineering staff and maintaining close communication and coordination among project team members; consultants; the Division of Structures; and Headquarters functional units. The incumbent ensures that the planning and design process is efficiently advanced - from early preliminary reviews and environmental and design studies through the completion of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) to construction support.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
