Compensation: $58–$68 per hour (DOE)

We are looking for a skilled Assistant Controller to join their finance team and support the organization’s continued growth.
Position OverviewThe Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing the day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, supporting audit preparation, and maintaining strong internal controls. This position requires a hands‑on, detail‑oriented professional with nonprofit experience and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and month‑end close.
- Support development of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and grant reporting.
- Assist with annual audits and preparation of audit schedules.
- Oversee debt management tracking and reporting.
- Partner with HR and payroll teams to ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing.
- Implement and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvements.
- Prepare advanced financial analyses using Excel; build and maintain complex spreadsheets.
- Collaborate with program teams to ensure proper allocation of expenses across grants and programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
- Nonprofit accounting experience (required).
- Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, modeling).
- Experience with debt management and financial compliance.
- Strategic understanding of payroll processes.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with Yardi (Preferred but not required).
- Familiarity with grants reporting, restricted funds, and audit preparation.
