About this Role

Pacific Community Ventures is hiring a Chief Lending Officer (CLO) to lead our small business lending operations and portfolio management. In this strategic role, the CLO will manage fund innovations, including place-based and climate funds, working side-by-side with small business leaders. The ideal candidate is driven by the mission to build a more equitable society by increasing access to affordable capital, pro bono advising, and ethical technology, thereby promoting growth, hiring, and prosperity among small business entrepreneurs.

PCV has demonstrated significant growth by doubling revenue and tripling its loan portfolio over the last five years. The CLO will play a crucial role in continuing this momentum, offering strategic guidance and rigorous oversight to ensure a sustainable trajectory and robust health of our lending portfolio. Key to success in this role is the ability to build deep relationships with aligned partners, optimizing lending operations while leading an innovative, values-driven team committed to inclusive entrepreneurship in California and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain functional knowledge of micro and small business lenders and their offerings.
  • Lead and manage investor relations, engaging impact investors, DAFs, and family offices.
  • Oversee mission-driven loan origination by developing robust business development pipelines.
  • Manage strategic and community partnerships to secure new lending opportunities.
  • Supervise the screening, structuring, and underwriting of potential loan applicants.
  • Maintain compliance with lending programs and industry standards.
  • Participate in cross-team innovation work, leveraging research and data teams for client outcomes.
  • Participate in annual operational budget creation and monitoring.
Requirements
  • Over 15 years of progressive experience in lending and financial services, including remote team management.
  • Proven success in CDFIs or similar financial institutions with a focus on underserved markets.
  • Track record of cultivating private sector funders for investments in underserved communities.
  • Expertise in credit risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiar with software like Quick Books, Salesforce, MS Office Suite; experience with lending and finance software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Proven effectiveness in mentoring and developing leadership within teams.
